“…pure randomness.”

1 Nov

Sorry for being MIA yet again this week.  I have been sick since Tuesday and it has definitely been no bueno.  When I sat down on my bus Tuesday morning around 5:30am I felt pretty nauseous but thought it was just from all of the head junk and congestion seeing as that happens to me quite often and usually goes away after I eat.  Well I am sitting on the bus before we leave the parking lot and my stomach is cramping and my mouth is watering and I am seriously contemplating getting off and going back home but I figured I would be fine so I toughed it out until I got to work.  Still feeling terrible, I ate a banana and hoped for the best.  No. Such. Luck.  I ran to the bathroom and I thought I had food poisoning because I felt so terrible…I mean, I was terrified because I didn’t know which end it was going to come out of next.

I felt a little bit like this pumpkin

I finally regrouped and went back to my office where I immediately vom-bombed in my trashcan…lovely.  So then I tried to figure out what to do about getting back home.  It was only about 9am so the buses were still coming into town but I called the park & ride because I wasn’t sure if any were going back there after dropping people off downtown…turns out, they weren’t.  What do you do in a situation like this??  I am stranded downtown with no form of transportation, puking in my office trashcan and feeling a little bit like I am dying.  This sounds like a job for the boyfriend!  I call Joseph and try to explain to him through my ralphing that I need to go home because I am sick…well he is about to go into his 9am meeting that will last an hour so he told me to hold tight and he would come get me afterwards…so that’s what I did.  When he picked me up, I brought a trash bag with me just in case I got sick again because he had just detailed his Tahoe on Monday and would kill me if I made a mess in his still less-than-a-year-old baby.  Good news: I made it all the way back without puking in his vehicle but I was sick as soon as I got home and about 5 times after that…so I stayed home Wednesday too.  Nothing like being sick on Halloween. 😦  But good news is I feel better so hopefully that is the end to that stomach bug.  Joseph just thinks I am allergic to working on Tuesdays but I guess we will find out if that is true next week.

So since I was sick I slept mostly all day Tuesday (minus the times I was in the bathroom) so I thought I would never sleep Tuesday night.  I slept like a rock for the first time in I can’t even tell you how long.  I woke up early and didn’t nap yesterday so that way I would be able to sleep Wednesday night to be able to come to work today.  Worst night’s sleep of my entire life.  I don’t get it.  It makes no sense.  I seriously tossed and turned all night…maybe getting an hour of sleep, 1.5 hours tops.  It was awful.  Nothing like playing catch-up at work when you are recovering from being sick and can barely keep your eyes open.

Good news!  I VOTED!!  Have you?

Speaking of voting…did anyone hear Obama’s comment in New Jersey after Hurricane Sandy hit?  He said, “I want to thank all the first responders who have been involved in this process — the linesmen, the firefighters, the folks who were in here shuttling out people who were supposed to “get the hell out” and didn’t.”  Yep.  He said that in a public speech.  That’s professional.  You can read his entire public statement here.  But enough with the politics…

Last year my friend, Gina, adopted this amazing Great Dane named Baron.

Beautiful Baby Baron

Baron was about a year old when they got him and was the most lovable, not to mention intelligent (he could open doors without even being trained), dog ever.  He was SO excited to have a family and you could tell that he was already in love with Gina and her boyfriend, Preston.  He was super skinny when they got him but was so full of joy but that was only the first day.  By the 2nd day, they knew something was wrong.  Baron was sick with distemper and after a few weeks of countless visits to different vets, emergency hospitals, and every treatment under the sun, Baron lost his battle.  It was possibly one of the hardest things I have ever had to witness.  Baron was only a puppy.  The only life he had gotten to live was the one with Gina and Preston where he got to play in grass and was shown love for the first time.  Up until his very last day, you could tell Baron appreciated every second of it.

Why am I telling you this story?  Well, Gina is raising money in honor of Baron for the Houston SPCA by participating in iWalk For Animals.  If you love animals the way I do, please go to her website for more information and help sponsor her so she can raise money for this great cause!  Even if you don’t know her personally, I know she would appreciate it!  Even if you can only give a dollar, every penny goes to an animal in need and can give a dog or cat a better chance at a full and happy life, when Baron wasn’t as lucky.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week!  Happy 1st day of November!
