Black Friday

26 Nov

So who all went Black Friday shopping?  Did you get any great deals?

Mom and I had some things in mind to get but we weren’t going to be upset if we missed out on them.

We started off at Kohl’s at midnight.  We pulled in the parking lot around 11:58pm and the line was wrapped around the front of the building all the way down the shopping strip.  We walked up with a group of other shoppers that also just arrived and waited on the parking lot side of the cross walk for the line of people that had been waiting to finally pile into the store so we could get inside, too.  Some people who just arrived walked across the cross walk to wait closer to the store and people in line started yelling, “Get back!  We’ve been waiting for 2 hours!  You need to go to the end of the line!” even though the people were just simply waiting for all of them to get inside.  It was quite comical because they were so serious…not to mention I didn’t see anything advertized that would be worth waiting in line for two hours so I think people are just nuts for Black Friday deals…

We finally got inside and with the amount of people that piled in before us, we thought it was going to be miserable and crowded and we weren’t going to be able to get to anything we wanted.  Surprisingly, we were wrong.  It was calm and a little crowded but it seemed like everyone was evenly spaced out between departments so it didn’t seem as crazy as we expected.

We went straight in to the shoe section (my favorite section of any store) and I found some nice black boots that I needed.  They were normally $80 but marked down to $20.  I was pumped.

We also found some red skinny jeans (adventurous for me), a cute white lacy shirt, comfy black sweat pants, 2 pillows, 3 Christmas ornaments, 2 stocking-stuffer books, a desk calendar, 2 items for Joseph that I can’t mention because he will see for $11 each, and a down comforter…want to guess how much we paid for all of that?  A whopping $118.  We saved over $350!  I had two $10 off coupons and a 15% off my total purchase which saved us $40 from the start.  Kohl’s was also doing a deal that gives you $15 Kohl’s cash for every $50 spent so I also got $30 to spend next week!  All the more reason why I love Kohl’s!

We shopped for an hour then waited in line for an hour at Kohl’s (the line waiting part was not much fun) so it was 2am by the time we made our way to Macy’s.

We went to Macy’s for a specific item that also cannot be mentioned due to it being a Christmas gift.  We parked and entered through the shoe section and along our path to the gift we were after, I saw some black and grey Coach shoes that were pretty cute but were over $100 for shoes and I just don’t pay that…then Mom spotted some super cute maroon and tan ones that happened to be $69.99 on the same display!  Because my guy friends are so amazing, I had a $50 gift card to Macy’s from them as a birthday gift.  I always save gift cards until I find something I really love so that way I don’t waste them on things that wouldn’t be an awesome gift from people that gave me the card…if that makes any sense…anyways, Mom and I went to get the gift we were after and I tried on the shoes on our way back.  They had my size and the sales lady told me they were also 20% off until 11am so it was a definite sign that I needed these shoes!

Are these the perfect Aggie Game Day shoes or what?!  And they only cost me less than $10 out of pocket!  Whoop!

I wore them this weekend to break them in and I could not be more happy about my purchase!

The only problem with Black Friday is that I always seem to find more things for me than actual Christmas gifts for people…but at least I found a few things that will be gifts…I spent a total of $128 for everything I bought on Black Friday!  Not too shabby considering all the things I purchased!

We got home after 4am and I had to wake up early to get ready to go to Joseph’s lake house Friday morning but I think it was worth it!  What about you?  Do you regret going Black Friday shopping (or regret not going Black Friday shopping) or were you excited about everything like me??
