“…pure randomness.”

8 Feb

Yes, this is me writing two “…pure randomness.” posts in two days…

Why?  Because I had more random things I wanted to tell everyone before I left!

First things first.  I wanted to send out a friendly reminder for everyone to go donate their blood to little Ruby Rascoe.  (see my previous post for more information) I had an appointment at the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center yesterday and it was quick and painless (not to mention they give you free snacks and juice and who doesn’t love free treats?!).

They gave me Ruby’s information so I can share it with everyone.  When you go to donate you can either give them her directed donation number, which is 3991612, or say the “Baby of April Rascoe.”  She needs whole blood so make sure to donate that instead of platelets/plasma.

I have been receiving several texts and instant messages concerning this California manhunt that is currently taking place.  If you haven’t heard about it you can read some details here and here.

Apparently Christopher Dorner, former Navy Lieutenant and former LAPD officer, has flown off the handle and has killed 3 people so far (a cop, a cop’s daughter and her fiance).  He is on a mission to kill LAPD officers (and their families) because “they ruined his life.”  All of this is supposedly streaming from an incident in 2007 where Dorner accused a fellow officer of police brutality but it came back that he was lying and he was released from the force.  He tried to appeal his dismissal but was denied.  Because of that he vowed to go on a killing spree of LAPD officers in a letter stating, “I will bring unconventional and asymmetrical warfare to those in LAPD uniform whether on or off duty.  I never had the opportunity to have a family of my own, I’m terminating yours.”

Police believe Dorner, who started off near San Diego (which I am flying into this afternoon), is now in Big Bear Mountain (which I will be at tomorrow morning for skiing and fun).  Yes, we are still continuing our trip as normal but I wanted to reassure everyone that I now know what he looks like and will keep out a watchful eye as I am tearing up the slopes.  I will be very careful but I am not going to let this ruin our plans of awesomeness.  My theory is that he planted his burning truck there as a distraction and he is long gone now, but hey, I’m no detective.  But I just wanted to let everyone know they there is no need to worry about us while we are in California.  We will be fine. Thanks for thinking of me and showing your concern!  Y’all are the best!

On a lighter note, I am secretly praying that this is our flight attendant today.

Why you may ask?  Watch this video.

How awesome is that?  David Holmes has been shown on CNN and talk shows because he is the best flight attendant ever.  My fingers are crossed that he is working today from Houston to San Diego!  If I get so lucky, you will most definitely be hearing about it.

I love you all and will try to keep you posted while on vacation but if not, I’ll let you know all of our adventures when I return!!

Happy Friday Everyone!
