Good Friday

29 Mar

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Good Friday so far!

What a wonderful weekend it is!  As you celebrate Easter weekend with your friends and family and are dying, hiding, and hunting Easter eggs, let’s not forget the reason for the holiday!

“For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit.”    – 1 Peter 3:18

Please be safe this weekend and I hope everyone has a very Happy Easter!

28 Mar

Today is Joseph’s birthday!!

He is officially a quarter-of-a-century old!!

I am so thankful for this guy.  He has been everything I have ever hoped for and so much more.  He has been my rock and my best friend and I could not imagine my life without him!

You are officially in the nifty-half-way-to-fifty club!  It’s hard to believe we have known each other for over 5 years already!  I know this is going to be a hectic, crazy, exciting year and I can not wait to spend it (any many more) with you!!

I love you!

“…pure randomness.”

27 Mar

This morning I decided to take the bus to work.

It’s 5:30-5:40am when we leave the park and ride so obviously it is still dark.  I usually sit in the first row because if I fall asleep, I will wake up at the first stop from the noise of the doors opening.  Anyways, when we were on the little back street that leaves the parking lot, I saw something in the road from a decent distance.  I could clearly tell that it was some sort of critter.  When we got closer, I noticed it was a possum (or opossum, whichever spelling you prefer…I say possum so that’s what we are going with).  It was laying in the street.  I couldn’t tell if it was just freshly hit by a car that morning or if it was just “playing possum.”  But it didn’t matter.  My bus driver lady didn’t even slow down, hesitate, or flinch when she plowed right over the little guy.

I mean, I didn’t expect her to swerve and flip our bus trying to dodge it but we could see it from PLENTY of distance away in order to at least TRY to dodge it.  But I think it’s safe to say, it didn’t survive our bus ride.  R.I.P. little possum.

The other day, I ran into a lady at work that I hadn’t seen in a while.  I said, “Long time no see.” And she said she took off for spring break with her kids then had bronchitis the following week.  I responded with, “Ain’t nobody got time for that!” and chuckled to myself.  She just stared at me, clearly thinking I was an idiot with improper grammar and not understanding the humor behind my comment…

Do you get it??  If not, please watch this video.  It will be clear, and probably funny…at least I thought I was.

I forget I work with a bunch of old farts that never have any idea what I am talking about.  If you are still in college, enjoy it.  The real world is old and depressing.

I forgot to mention that last Wednesday was my friend, Lauren’s birthday!

Me and Lauren

Joseph and I met her and some of her other friends at a bar in midtown to celebrate.  She had a table area on the patio reserved and the guys next to us (which happened to be sitting in her other table but she was too nice to make them get up) ended up buying her about 5 shots before the night was over.

And obviously if she is too nice to make them get up out of her reserved spot, she is too nice to turn down a shot that was already purchased for her, even though she was super embarrassed every time they gave her one.  Everyone else thought it was funny though.

My cousin, Leigh Anne, is having her baby today!!!  Her actual due date was on the 22nd, only 5 days late – shocker that the baby is a girl, right?  Always late for something.

She is being induced as we speak and hopefully little Emma will be brought into this world around 5 or 6pm!!  I can’t wait to meet her!!

Please pray for a quick and safe delivery for Leigh Anne and Emma!!

I will update with pictures as soon as I can! 🙂
