Friday, Friend, & Food Day

9 Apr

This past Friday was my Friday off.  (If you didn’t know I work a 9/80 schedule which means I work an extra hour each weekday but get every other Friday off.)

Kooken was in town again – two weekends in a row?!  Say what?!  It was fantastic!!

I met up with Kooken and Courtney for lunch Friday afternoon at Black Walnut Cafe.  If you’ve never been, I strongly recommend it.

I had the Chicken Croissant which had grilled chicken breast, bacon, and avocado on it.  It was delicious.

Dano and Ali were originally going to be out of town on Friday but they decided to stay in Houston so we got to hang out with them that evening!  It was exciting because we don’t get to see them as often as we all want to because they are super busy with planning wedding things and our schedules are always off.

So we (by we I mean me, Joseph, Dano, Ali, Kooken, and Courtney) all met up at District 7 Grill for dinner.

Me, Ali, Courtney, Kooken – I missed the black memo…

I’d never been to – or even heard of – this place so I had no idea what to expect.  It is a BYOW (bring your own wine) type of restaurant and the one in Midtown was surprisingly small.  Their drink menu was awesome and cheap.  Kooken and I had a frozen peach bellinis for $4 each, Ali and Courtney had orange or cranberry mimosas for $2 each, and the boys just had beers for $3 each.  Not bad for a place out, especially in Midtown.  Oh and I can’t forget to mention that the food was amazing!  I had grilled salmon with broccoli and mashed potatoes.  SO good!

After dinner we decided to head over to Cedar Creek to hang out for a little bit.

We played a version of “Sloppy Dice” where you roll two dice and if you roll a 7, 11, or doubles, you pick someone to drink.  Normally you have a cup in the middle full of beer and if you are chosen to drink then you have to chug the whole cup of beer before the person rolls another 7, 11,or doubles.  If you beat them, they have to drink while you roll but if they beat you, then you have to do it all over again.  This is where the name “Sloppy Dice” comes from because it is very easy to get pretty inebriated with this game.

Since we were at a bar – which meant drinks were more expensive and we had to drive home – we decided to have the light version of the game so we didn’t all get sloppy and poor.

Kooken was excited about rolling an 11...

It was a lot of fun and it was so good getting to see them all in one night!  I can’t wait to do it again!
