Home Sweet Home

22 May

Joseph and I closed on our brand new house April 19th!

Which happened to be exactly a week after we got engaged!

Which means my life has been completely nuts lately.

So yet again, I apologize for not posting more!  I promise I am going to try to do better organizing the craziness so I can keep y’all updated on my life!

Okay…so back to the house.

Here it is again.

Here it is again.

Before I get started, let me point out something…

One thing I have noticed is that everyone seems to have an opinion or comment about something regarding the house’s size.  For instance, SO MANY people have said, “That’s a big house.  You don’t need something that big.” or “How can you afford a house that big? You are going to be house broke.”  Really??  I didn’t realize it was big (insert sarcasm) and I also didn’t realize that you knew every aspect of my financial situation.  But fun fact. I HATE MOVING.  Joseph and I wanted a big house that we could GROW into.  As in have children there.  That’s why we picked an area with a great school district where we could settle down and raise a family.  So yes, it is big.  But also, we both lived at home with our parents for 2.5 years and hoarded our money to be able to afford a house this big.  So sorry I’m not sorry.

AND people thought we just spontaneously jumped in on buying a house overnight.  We had actually been looking at houses, subdivisions, school districts, etc. since February 2012.  We found this house in November 2012 and watched it and it’s price tag until we made a move on it in February 2013.  I don’t know about most people but I wouldn’t consider a year to be a hasty decision.

Okay, now that I am done with that rant…

Here’s a “virtual tour” via pictures.  (side note: these pictures are from before I moved in so there isn’t anything in the rooms and our kitchen appliances and blinds weren’t in there yet but I’m sure you could have figured that out from just looking at the pictures…)

So there you have it!  Our humble abode  🙂

I have been living in our home for about a month and I absolutely LOVE it.  I still haven’t fully grasped the fact that we actually own the place.  I still feel like I am staying at someone’s house or renting or something.  Maybe it will sink in one day…

What I do know is that I started feeling extremely old in a mere 7 days from the engagement and closing on the house…but do those things actually make me old??
