Wedding Wednesday

29 Jan

I realize it has been quite some time since I have updated you guys on wedding details…We have been pretty busy with the wedding planning lately.

WE ARE WITHIN THE LAST 3 MONTHS NOW!!!  I can’t believe it is already so close.  SO MUCH still to do!  AHHH!!  What have I been doing for the past 9 months?!  Feels like I have been super busy but have so little to show for it.

We took our engagement pictures back in October.  If you missed them on Facebook check out my photographer’s blog here!

What do you think??  Lacy is absolutely amazing!  I love love love her bubbly personality and obviously she is great at what she does!  I can’t wait to work with her more for my bridals and our wedding day!

I found my dress a while back and tomorrow I have my fitting for alterations!  What do you think??

Do you like my dress??

Do you like my dress??

Just kidding…you all should know better that it isn’t my dress.  It’s awful.  If you see this and that is your dress and I’ve offended you then good.  You should take it personal because that dress is horrendous.

Sorry (I’m not sorry) but no one will see me in my dress until the big day (except my mom, Joseph’s mom, and Gina-MOH).  Wish me luck!  Hopefully this Advocare challenge has done enough for me!  I don’t think I will need many things altered but we will have a better idea tomorrow.

Did you know weddings are expensive?  Like STUPIDLY expensive?

This bride and groom are piggy banks for a's irony.

This bride and groom are piggy banks for a reason…it’s irony.

Even for a thrifty girl like me it is painfully expensive.  All this crap on Pinterest and random brides’ blogs about a $5,000 wedding are so full of it!  Who did they have at their wedding?? Just themselves and their parents?  Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t shooting for  a $5K budget and I mean I knew it was going to cost more than I wanted to spend but I never imagined that it would be as expensive as it has been.  If you liked to donate to my wedding fund feel free to do so by making a check out to me the next time you see me.  Kidding…well only kinda kidding…At this point I will gladly take handouts – no shame for this girl!

Speaking of Pinterest… WHO ACTUALLY HAS TIME TO DO ANYTHING THEY SEE ON THERE?  I think I have only had time to even LOOK at Pinterest for wedding stuff maybe 2 or 3 times much less actually do anything I see on there…

I think I did more wedding planning on there before I was actually engaged…anyone else have this issue?

I will try to update you more as the wedding gets closer and more plans are finalized but no promises…it’s overwhelming and I barely have time to do it much less blog about it.  BUT it was a resolution to blog more so maybe I will throw some more wedding themed ones in the mix.  We shall see….dun dun dun (dramatic music) 🙂

Hope everyone had a happy Wednesday and are staying warm and cozy!

BTW I want to give a birthday shout out to two of my lovely bridesmaids – Neva and Chelsea!  Neva’s anniversary for her day of birth was yesterday and Chelsea’s is today!  So happy 5th annual 21st birthdays to you two wonderful ladies!  I love you both ever so much!  We shall do some serious celebrating in the near future!

Advocare 24-Day Challenge

14 Jan

As of yesterday I have:

18 days until my wedding dress fitting for alterations

39 days until we leave for the cruise for Neva’s Bachelorette Party

68 days until my Bachelorette Party

82 days until Neva’s Wedding

Sooo with that being said…yesterday I started the Advocare 24-Day Challenge along with Joseph, my mom, Gina, Neva, Morgan, and Paige.

I weighed myself yesterday morning (depressing) then had my mom take my measurements last night (even more depressing) then when I got home I took some “Day 1” bikini pictures (the most depressing) to compare to Day 24.  All I’m saying is there better be a big difference between those two days because what I saw yesterday was less than pleasing.  BUT it was a good motivator because I have a lot of things coming up that I need to look good for (that’s me being positive since that was one of my resolutions)!

Since yesterday was the first day I don’t have many observations other than I was so full I thought I would pop, I wasn’t as tired as I normally am due to the Spark Energy Drink stuff they give you, I drank so much water that I got exercise running to and from the restroom, and the fiber drink mix has the texture of watery grits and made me gag for the last sip I chugged (luckily it was only 8oz).  That energy stuff is like crack in drink-mix form.  I was so hyper only minutes after drinking it and I know it’s not a placebo effect type thing because coffee doesn’t do the same thing even though in my head I know it should.

Yesterday morning I weighed myself before I left for work…then I weighed myself again last night.  Big mistake.  This girl gained 3.5 lbs sometime between those two weigh-ins.  I am never someone who weighs myself twice a day because I am well aware that your body weight fluctuates due to water retention, eating, and just being later in the day.  So I won’t make that mistake again because it jacks with your mind and I can’t handle that right now.

I will keep you posted on how I feel and any progress that I see.  I am staying off the scale (at least until Day 10 but going to try to stay off it longer) and I’m not measuring again until Day 24.

Have you done the 24-Day Challenge?  If so, did you see decent results??

5 Jan

It’s officially 2014 and by officially I mean it has been for 5 days now…

The last half of last year, I really sucked at this whole blogging thing…and I apologize.  One of my New Year’s Resolutions?  Blog more often like when I first started…at least more than once a month like I have been lately..

Speaking of New Year’s Resolutions…did you make any?  Normally I don’t really plan on doing anything but this year is different.  I have a WHOLE list of them!  (in no particular order)

Get in Better Shape

Shocker, right?  Who didn’t see this one coming?  Duh, this is like #1 on the most common resolutions list (never actually seen the list but I am guessing it is so don’t take that as fact) but I have even more motive because my wedding is in LESS THAN FOUR MONTHS!! AHHH!!!  Basically eating healthier, exercising more, drinking more water, etc. are all in this category

Go to Church More Often

Since buying a house about 30 minutes away from our church, Joseph and I haven’t received an A+ in attendance.  He comes up to the house on the weekends and we rarely make the drive back to go…So that needs to change.

Blog More

You’re welcome, everyone.

Before we bought our house, Joseph and I had bookoos of money saved up (bookoos being a relative term but it seemed like a whole heck of a lot to two 24 year olds).  Now that we have the house = more bills, and not to mention the wedding, we have been running low on the funds…at least as far as I’m concerned.  There’s a certain amount that I have mentally noted that I do not like my bank account to get under and since buying the house it has been hovering around that amount instead of growing…it’s time to make that piggy grow.

Pay Off (most) Debt

This one kind of contradicts the previous one seeing as we have to spend money to pay off debts BUT I would like to pay off all of my student loans and Joseph’s vehicle by the end of 2014 so all we have is our mortgage.  Obviously we know we won’t pay off our mortgage in 2014 unless we happen to win the lottery…and seeing as I don’t play the lottery, that may be an issue.

Be More Positive 🙂

I realize that I am not always the most optimistic or  happy-go-lucky person.  I tend to get down on myself or frustrated because I have little patience.  I want to work on that this year.  I will try to have more patience and see the happy side of things.  I don’t think I am a complete grumpy goose by any means but it would be nice to not “sweat the small stuff.”  (says the girl currently planning a wedding – HA!)

Learn Something New (and Useful)

Ok, this cartoon is too optimistic...I just want to learn something new...not every steps.

Ok, this cartoon is too optimistic…I just want to learn something new…not every day…baby steps.

There’s lots of life skills and random hobbies that I would like to learn.  Sewing, how to fix my truck when it breaks (this one may appear to be more useful seeing as Big Red is now over the 10 year mark), Spanish, to play the piano, make different delicious recipes, how to fold a fitted sheet…you know, things like that.

Volunteer More

I guess “Do More for Others” would be a good title for this one but I already chose Volunteer More so get over it.  I already donate blood often – but I can do more.  There’s plenty of help needed at church and in my community that I can volunteer my time/service/money towards.  One thing that will never happen is giving money to a beggar though…I will buy you food but don’t you dare ask me for money.

Be Outside More

This past year, I felt like I never had any time to just be outside.  I LOVE being outside.  I need more of that in my life.  I don’t care if it’s camping, fishing, going on walks, sitting on my porch, whatever – I just want to be out there…but it needs to warm up first.

Take a True Vacation

Not a stay-cation or a visit to somewhere in Texas – like a true get-out-and-see-the-world vacation.  Obviously, I have kinda cheated this year because I know we are going out of the country for our honeymoon but I want to make an annual trip to somewhere new – not necessarily out of the country every year but definitely out of the state.

Take a Picture Every Day

I have seen people do this in previous years and it seemed pretty cool so I’ve decided to take on the challenge this year.  So far my pictures have been lame and not very exciting but hey, it’s a picture (see-that’s me being positive already).  I just haven’t done anything very eventful so far seeing as I’ve been sick and at home all year so far.  BUT I am determined to get some good ones!

So do you think that is enough to strive for in 2014?  What did you decide to change (if anything because I know you people are perfect and shouldn’t change a thing, right?)

Happy New Year everyone!  Let’s make it the best one yet!
