Wedding Wednesday

24 Sep

Happy Hump Day, everyone!

It’s Wednesday so I figured I would do one of my wedding posts today simply just for some alliteration fun.

There are so many things I can talk about from our wedding but first I think I should start off with the details.  So let me introduce you to the wonderful people who made up our wedding party…

(I took these pictures and stories/descriptions from our wedding website -but slightly updated them because they were originally written before the wedding- because I left my hard drive at home with all of our actual pictures from our wedding where we all were extra good-looking 🙂  I will add those later, hopefully this evening, so you can check out great everyone looked – not that we all look bad in these pictures but we look extra fancy all dolled up haha)

Maid of Honor (aka Ninja in Charge) – Gina

Gina

Gina moved in next door to me when we were only 7 years old.  We quickly became best friends and were inseparable.  Gina was always there for me no matter what.  When we graduated high school, I went to Texas A&M University and Gina went to the University of Texas and despite every single stranger we ever came across while sporting our school pride questioning our friendship, we remained best friends.  In fact, it made it more fun to have a friendly competition every year when Thanksgiving rolled around.  I was SO excited to have Gina by my side on my big day, just as she has been for the last 18 years of my life!

Bridesmaids:

Neva

Neva

Beavis and I met in 5th grade and immediately bonded over being low maintenance.  We can always count on each other to wear a t-shirt and pony tail.  I gave her the nickname Beavis in high school when we thought one of our teachers called her Beavis when taking attendance.  He actually said “Neva is” but Beavis stuck.  Our weddings were both in April so we had the exciting opportunity to experience this milestone together!

Jessica

Jessica

Jessica and I met in 5th grade.  We were a lot alike, especially when it came to everything we participated in…we sat the bench together in softball and volleyball, joked around as cheerleader (her) and mascot (me), and were co-editors for our senior yearbook.  Neither one of us took life too seriously and I think that’s what drew us so close right from the beginning.

Morgan

Morgan

Morgan and I met in elementary school.  In 4th grade we did a really awesome project about mammals for a competition that we are both still bitter about not placing in… We ran around her neighborhood doing jumps over speed bumps on our bikes and roller blades.  When I moved back home after I graduated from college, Morgan and I became even closer.  I am so happy we have been able to become the friends (or even better) we were in elementary school.

Chelsea

Chelsea

Chelsea and I met our freshman year at Texas A&M through fish camp.  We were first-year counselors together and immediately became great friends.  We were lucky enough to become counselors for another camp together the next year where we grew even closer.  We decided to live together our senior year.  She and her husband moved to Houston last year and I love having them closer to us.

Taylor

Taylor

Taylor and I met at Texas A&M through Joseph and his friends.  I’m not sure why but from the very beginning we have always called her by her last name and sometimes when people call her Taylor it confuses me.  We realized we both grew up in two small towns right next to each other and participated in the same activities (rodeo, volleyball) our whole lives and never knew each other.  So now we are making up for lost time.

Ali

Ali

Ali and I met in college when she started dating Daniel, one of Joseph’s roommates.  She was really quiet at first but once she opened up, we really clicked.  It was great having another “girlfriend” in our group of college friends.  Daniel and Ali just got married last October and Joseph and I were a groomsman and bridesmaid, respectively (obviously), in their wedding.  We were excited to be able to have both of them as part of our big day as well.

Amber

Amber

Amber is my cousin on my dad’s side of the family and a person I have always looked up to.  She has been a great friend to me my whole life so it was a no brainer to have her as one of my bridesmaids.  Amber is a mother of two boys.  She and her husband, Blane, just welcomed their newest addition, their second son, to the family in November.  Their oldest son, Rylan, was our ring bearer.  We were so excited to have both of them in our wedding!

(FYI: The information about the boys was written by Joseph)

Best Man – Justin

Justin

I have known Justin my entire life.  Our Moms went to high school together and are great friends.  Like me, Justin has two older brothers and the 6 of us all grew up together being best friends and getting into trouble.  Justin and I have shared so many memories together, through Boy Scouts, church camps, UM ARMY’s, lake house trips, church functions, birthday parties, you name it… Although we never went to school with each other, we’ve always spent a lot of time together.  Even when Justin was at Baylor and I was at Texas A&M, we spent pretty much every weekend doing something together.  He was an honorary roommate at HQ.  Justin has been my best friend my whole life and I was happy to have him standing by my side on my wedding day.

Groomsmen:

Joshua

Joshua

Joshua has been my oldest brother for as long as I can remember.  We’ve shared many great memories together and often show our “brotherly love” to each other.  I’ve always looked up to Joshua, figuratively, not literally because I’m taller than him and remind him of that every chance I get.  Joshua just recently retired from the Marine Corps as a Captain and has moved back to Texas with his wife, Lori, daughter Chloe, and newest daughter Hailey.  I’m excited to have him back in town and to have him as a groomsman.

Jeremy

Jeremy

Jeremy is my middle brother and is 3 years older than me.  Growing up, if we weren’t getting into trouble at home, we were busy with one of the many activities we were involved in.  Jeremy and I both played soccer, and at the end of his senior year of high school, he passed down his “Holy Goalie” jersey which meant a lot to me.  We both had a chance to live together in college at HQ.  Even though we had a few disagreements, I enjoyed getting to live with him and share the college experience together.  Nowadays, we spend much of the summer at the lake together, and most of the winter in the duck blind together.

Joey

Joey

I have known Joey pretty much my whole life.  We have gone to school together since 1st grade, all the way through graduating from Texas A&M.  We have been lifelong friends. Joey and I played sports together in middle school and continued playing soccer together in high school where we played for the State Championship three years in a row.  After high school, Joey and I went to Texas A&M where he was one of my roommates at HQ.  Throughout college, we had a lot of awesome times together and continue to be great friends.  I was excited to have Joey as a groomsman.

Stephen

Stephen

Stephen was one of my best friends in high school.  We met when we played on the JV soccer team our freshmen year.  When we weren’t dominating on the soccer field, we were goofing off in Kemnitz’s class or finding out fun to get into.  Stephen switched from offense to defense in soccer our Junior and Senior year and he saved my butt several times on the pitch.  Stephen and I both went to Texas A&M together and he moved into the house our Sophomore year.  We have shared many great memories together throughout college and after and continue being life long friends.

Zach

Zach

Zach and I were in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts together.  We both earned our Eagle Scout and went on countless camping trips and scouting functions together.  Zach and I both moved into the house in College Station in the Fall of 2006 and became even better friends.  We spent our first year of college doing such things as “studying”, Margarita Wednesdays, Beer Pong Tuesdays and many other academic activities.  We created great memories through out our college years together at HQ.  We continue to be most excellent of friends.

Daniel

Daniel

Daniel and I first met as freshmen at Texas A&M in Fish Camp when we were counselors for the same camp.  Right away, Daniel and I hit it off as friends, and our friendship continued to grow throughout that year, so much so that the following year Daniel moved in as a roommate at HQ.  Daniel and I both went on to be Co-Chairs for Fish Camp and we were both in the organization Old Army Gentlemen’s Society.  We both worked together as “House Boys” for the sorority Zeta Tau Alpha, most likely the world’s best job.  Daniel and I created many great memories in college and continue to be great friends.  Last October, I had the honor of being a groomsman in his wedding and I was happy to have him as one of mine in April.

Trey

Trey

Trey is Blair’s older brother – my now brother in law.  Trey is an avid hunter and fisherman and I’ve learned a lot from him about those.  We have a lot in common: we both enjoy the outdoors, hunting, fishing, we both work in construction and most importantly, we both love picking on Blair.  I was excited to have Trey as a groomsman and to be a part of his family.

Ring Bearer – Rylan

Rylan

Rylan is my cousin and bridesmaid, Amber’s little boy.  He is six years old and is such a boy’s boy who is full of energy and loves sports, dinosaurs, and playing in the mud.  He was a fun addition to our big day and we were excited to have him as our ring bearer.

Flower Girls:

Chloe

Chloe

Chloe is Joseph’s first niece.  She is now three years old and a ball of fun.  She and her parents, Joshua and Lori, moved back to Texas from California and we are so happy to have them closer and LOVE getting to spend more time with them!

Kendall

Kendall

Kendall is my second cousin, Kim’s little girl.  She is five years old.  Kim was the flower girl in my parent’s wedding when she was little so I was so excited to be able to have Kim’s daughter be a flower girl for our wedding over thirty years later!
