“…pure randomness.”

15 Sep

First things first.  Do you Skimm?

No, I am not talking about the little, thin board you use on the beach.  I am talking about THE SKIMM.  It’s wonderful.  If you are like me and have no time to read long articles about everything going on in the world or get to work too early for the morning news and enjoy nice, light-hearted chuckles, then the Skimm is for you.

If you want to get a daily weekday newsletter sent to your email to keep you up to date on the world around you, click –> Link to Share the Skimm.

Have you experienced the perfection that is YETI?  Joseph and I have a couple of their coolers which are great – heavy as hell even when they are empty but keep ice for days.  Well they also have cups and koozies.  AND THEY ARE MAGNIFICENT!  I went to the mall the other day, during midday, aka the hottest time of the day.  I was in there for two hours and came back out to this…

Yeti Cup

Yes, that is ice that hasn’t even begun to melt in Texas summer heat for 2 hours!

How have I lived my life without one of these cups?  I guess with nasty, hot water – BUT NOT ANYMORE!  They are expensive for cups and koozies ($29.99 each for the koozie and 20oz cup and $39.99 for the 30 oz cup) but they are seriously worth every penny.  I can honestly say there are few things that I enjoy more in the world than waking up in the middle of the night or early in the morning and reaching over to my water and it being ice-cold.  So much satisfaction in the little things, am I right?

Has anyone else taken the plunge into investing in this great invention?  I bet you don’t regret it, do you?

Speaking of being at the mall for two hours….

I was getting my hair cut.

Before and After Million Dollar Hair Cut

Before and After Million Dollar Hair Cut

Please excuse the before picture.  My hair was so long it was hard to get it all into a selfie and I was concentrating so hard I forgot to smile.  I hadn’t gotten my hair cut in over a year (insert panicky horror noises from all you beauty queens) and I quickly remembered why.  Including my tip, the shampoo, cut, and style was over $100. $100!!! Do you know how many Yeti cups I could buy with that?!  Really only 2-3 depending on the size but that’s more than ONE hair cut! – not to mention the Yeti cups would last me literally FOREVER because they are Yeti.  Don’t get me wrong, I liked my cut (which is hard to tell from all the country curling she did so I wasn’t sure if I liked it until after I washed it and styled it on my own at home) but that price is just ridiculous.  I know not everywhere is that expensive but at least she didn’t ridicule me for not having been to get it cut in a while which I literally get everywhere, every year…when I get my annual hair cut…

Is it a problem that my dog gets more hair cuts than me?  Nah.  He is way cuter.

Well, I am keeping it short and sweet this time because I have lots of things going on but I hope everyone is having a wonderful week!  Is it Thursday yet??

The first 5 days after the weekend are usually the hardest…

RIP Deputy Darren Goforth

4 Sep

By now, I am sure all of you have heard about the tragic death of Deputy Goforth.

I heard this on the radio and wanted to share – please show your respect for this man by driving with your headlights on today.

His funeral was held at 11am today and was televised.

It’s so sad that ignorance took this man from his family and that the men and women serving our nation have to live in fear of being attacked for doing their job WHICH IS TO PROTECT ALL OF US (and yes, that includes all of you stupid people, blinded by ignorance, who lack respect for authority and think the law doesn’t apply to you).  What is our world coming to?

Thank you to all of our service men and women.  Some of us still care and appreciate the sacrifice of what you do.
