Fightin’ Texas Aggie Game Day!!

28 Aug

It is FINALLY Fightin’ Texas Aggie Game Day!!  And what a way to start off the season!  We have a conference game for game #1 AND not to mention, it will be the first SEC football game to play on the new SEC network!  No pressure Ags!

I will be watching the game with some friends at a bar and I could not be more excited!  I came to work decked out in my Aggie gear and am ready for a fun season!

What time is it? GAME TIME!

13 Sep

Who’s ready for THE game of the year??

If you don’t know what I am talking about then you clearly live under a rock and I feel sorry for you.

Saturday at 2:30pm CST the Aggies take on the Tide in Aggieland.  Saban and his team are out for revenge seeing as Texas A&M was the only team that kept them from a perfect season last year.  A&M is out to prove that last year wasn’t a fluke.

Here’s an awesome article to get you jacked up for the game if for some strange inhumane reason you are not already fired up.

We are headed off to Aggieland to be there for the action and I am SO PUMPED!  Whatever the outcome, I am sure it will be an amazing game.

Let’s go Ags!!

“…pure randomness.”

11 Jan

It’s been a while since I’ve had a pure randomness post lately so I think I’m due.  So here goes nothing…

Luke Joeckel, the Junior Offensive Tackle (Blindside) for Texas A&M, announced on Tuesday that he would be leaving A&M and entering the 2013 NFL draft.

Luke was a HUGE contributor to the success the Aggies had this year.  He won the Outland Trophy for 2012 and there has been talk that Luke could be the #1 overall draft pick which would be awesome!

Joeckel wrote a departing letter to the 12th Man and you can read it here.  He is such a great guy and although we are sad to see him go, I am excited for what his future holds for him in the NFL!  Good luck Luke!

Did you hear about the labradoodle that was mistaken for a lion in Norfolk, Virgina?

The police of Norfolk received several calls reporting a lion loose on the streets.  Here‘s a video on ABC news about it.  I asked Joseph if we could get one and he said no because he thought it was ugly but I think he’s cute.  Plus labradoodle’s don’t shed 🙂  And talk about the ultimate guard dog…no one would break into your house if they thought you had a pet lion roaming around inside!

Anyone read the Hunger Games series?  If you read further than the first book you would know that Finnick Odair is supposed to be this utterly gorgeous guy that’s tall, blond, bronzed and muscular with stunning sea green eyes and a charming smile.  When you read the book you picture someone lean yet muscular and just a smoking hot guy.  In my mind I pictured someone like Garrett Hedlund (from Tron) or Chris Hemsworth (Thor) playing his role in the movie.  Obviously Chris Hemsworth would have been awkward though seeing as his brother in real life plays Gale and they are clearly siblings.

Either one of these guys would have the ladies drooling over Finnick just as the book made you do…yet this is what the movie makers chose…

I am so not impressed with this decision…I’m not saying he’s bad-looking but I just don’t think he’s Finnick material (and he also reminds me of Ferris Bueller)…then again, Peeta wasn’t what I was expecting either and he turned out to play the part well. Sigh. I guess I will just have to stick to drooling over Gale…maybe they will write in more parts for him so we can see him more. Wishful thinking.

Wednesday they announced the Baseball Hall of Fame additions for this year.  I am disappointed that one particular person was left off the list.  Craig Biggio, former player for the Houston Astros, was left off the inductee list on his first eligible year.  The players have to have at least 75% of the vote and he received 68.2% which is crap.  Biggio had over 3,000 hits for crying out loud!  BTW I was there for his last home game and I cried because I love him.  Biggio played his entire 20-year career with the Astros.

Apparently this is the first year since 1965 that no living members were added.  What a drag.  Biggio and Bagwell (as well as Berkman – the Killer B’s) made me love the Astros when I was younger and neither of them were accepted this year.  This was Bagwell’s 2nd eligible year.  Biggio was an all-around amazing player: hitting, catching, 2nd baseman, running…he was good at all of it.  Luckily there is always next year and statistics show that anyone to get over 60% has gone on to be inducted into the Hall of Fame eventually.

Does anyone have any exciting plans for this weekend?  I think this is one of the first weekends in a long time that I will actually have time to be lazy and I can honestly say that I am pretty pumped about it!

Happy Friday Everyone!
